Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is the upgraded edition of the classic shooter. The game which came to define modern FPS shooters returns with upgraded graphics, better physics and a modern HD style.
Thanks to its groundbreaking innovations and a string of lacklustre sequels, COD 4 has become acknowledged as the definitive edition of the popular FPS series. With the recent release of Infinite Warfare, Activision decided to bundle an improved and upgraded version of the classic Modern Warfare title including both the single-player and multiplayer versions. While this upgrade is certainly a visual improvement, providing the ultimate single player experience of the much loved campaign, a number of behind-the-scenes business decisions have created lots of fan anger. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is only available with the purchase of Infinite Warfare, splits the original maps into DLC packs and has limits on hosting of servers, resulting in low scores and a tiny player base.
Missed the mark
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is a professionally impressive upgrade ruined by monetary decisions. With players online in the low hundreds, the online multiplayer is effectively dead. Thankfully, the singlepayer remains one of the best FPS campaigns but the question remains whether it is worth the price of Infinite Warfare.
